The unveiling of the all-new 2014 IS 350 on the second day of press previews at the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit is the latest in Lexus’ efforts to have every model in their lineup redesigned in less than two years.
Since 1999, the IS has been the entry point into the Lexus brand and has attracted the youngest car buyers of any car in the luxury segment. The latest edition of the IS is geared toward that market, from the interior and exterior design to the available options.
On the outside, the IS 350 is fit with L-shaped daytime-running LED headlights, and the body features a longer wheelbase and a broad, powerful stance.
The interior features sporty, high-tech instrumentation, with a Multimedia center, providing navigation and subscription-free traffic reports, which is an industry first.
As for performance, the IS 350 boasts an engine with over 350 horsepower and racetrack-tested suspension and handling. The overall body rigidity has been improved, providing a better overall driving experience. The enhanced steering also provides improved response and road feel.
The IS 350 goes on sale in showrooms this June. It will also be available in a high-end F Sport model, which features an 8-speed transmission.
Lexus also debuted the first-ever hybrid IS, but it will only be sold in Japan and Europe.
