The new Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe, which the automakers calls a “dream car,” will celebrate its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show during the press preview day on April 16, 2014.
The S63 is powered by an AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine – assembled by hand at the AMG engine shop in Affalterbach – boasting an output of 577 horsepower, while also maintaining low fuel consumption thanks to a reduction in weight. The vehicle’s low power-to-weight ratio allows the S63 AMG Coupe to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 3.9 seconds.
“The new S63 AMG Coupe is another exciting AMG dream car in the luxury segment,” said Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “Now the S-Class Coupe also comes with performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive – as we rigorously pursue our all-wheel-drive initiative. Mercedes-AMG is putting the pedal to the metal again in the new year. Our model initiative is set to continue at blistering pace in 2014.”
In addition to 4MATIC standard, the S63 also features the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sport transmission, which allows drivers to configure their own personal set-up, choosing from three driving styles: Controlled Efficiency, Sport and Manual. This also affects the AMG sport exhaust system with automatic exhaust flaps that adjust the engine sound based on driving mode.
The S63 AMG’s interior is highlighted by a new, innovative touchpad, included as standard equipment, w makes it significantly easier to operate the radio, telephone and navigation system.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe 4MATIC will launch in the U.S. in fall 2014.
