During the week leading up to the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, The Driving Life will focus on the big news to expect from automakers, including vehicle launches and model updates.
Soccer moms everywhere are rejoicing for the expected official unveiling of a new seven-seat Volkswagen concept at the auto show in Detroit.
Although the official vehicle and price point have yet to be released, estimates price the new seven-seat model closer to Volkswagen’s Tiguan’s current price of $23,820, rather than Touareg’s sticker price of $44,300, placing the model squarely in the family-friendly category. The seven-seater will likely appear in markets as a 2016 model. Expect production plants to begin ramping up production in 2016.
The new model is rumored to be based on the MQB architecture.
A Passat Performance Concept is also set to debut in Detroit, but details are so scarce that there really isn’t much to preview. A stronger, more powerful engine is one of the few confirmed details available.
