During the week leading up to the 2013 New York International Auto Show, The Driving Life will focus on the big news to expect from automakers, including vehicle launches and model updates.
Land Rover will debut the all-new Range Rover Sport in New York City, just not at the Jacob Javits Center during the press days of the 2013 New York International Auto Show. Like Audi with the A3 sedan reveal, the Range Rover Sport will debut in an event before the start of the auto show. Only instead of a private event like Audi, Land Rover said the vehicle “will make its global premier in a groundbreaking live drive through Manhattan.”
Land Rover said the drive will feature the all-new Range Rover Sport along with a “very special and very British Land Rover ambassador.” The reason for the debut on the New York City streets, according to Land Rover, is that more Range Rover Sports are sold in New York than in any other metropolitan area in the world. The vehicle is also the best-selling Land Rover model in North America.
“The all-new Range Rover Sport is highly anticipated,” said John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director. “The new Sport will not only be the most dynamic Land Rover to
date but also the most technology packed, and it’s new, all-aluminum lightweight architecture results in reduced CO2 and improved fuel economy.”
While no additional vehicle details have been announced ahead of the global debut, the SUV-maker calls the all-new Range Rover Sport its “fastest, most responsive and agile vehicle to date.” The debut of the Range Rover Sport follows the debuts of the 2012 Range Rover Evoque and the 2013 Rand Rover, making it the third Range Rover model to be launched in two years.
Land Rover said it has worked with a Hollywood director and production company to create the reveal — both to a live audience in New York City and via a global online broadcast on Tuesday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time — which will allow viewers to select different camera angles and viewing points.
