During the week leading up to the 2013 New York International Auto Show, The Driving Life will focus on the big news to expect from automakers, including vehicle launches and model updates.
Volkwagen is set to debut not just one version, but three versions, of the all-new 2015 Golf during a press conference at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. The German automaker will show off the entry-level TSI, a TDI Clean Diesel model at the Jacob Javits Center.
The all-new Golf versions will be showcased stateside for the first time, after making their worldwide debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Therefore, the models’ exterior and interior designs will not be a surprise. The all-new Golf model is bigger, safer and more fuel-efficient than the previous model. It will also be the first Volkswagen to feature collision avoidance and lane departure systems.
As for the under-the-hood expectations, the TSI model is expected to have a 158-horsepower, 1.8-liter turbocharged, 4-cylinder engine. The GTI is expected to carry on with its turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, which will now produce approximately 220 horsepower.
The 2015 Golf is expected to go on sale in the U.S. during the first half of 2014.
Volkswagen’s press conference is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27 at 9:45 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, at the Jacob Javits Center.
